Ocean Acidification - The Silent Killer

As ocean acidification increases as it struggles to be the largest CO2 sink of the Earth, the positive feedback loop is strengthened. Awareness of the issue is not "yesterday's news". As mankind pushes towards cleaner sources of energy for political and financial gain, the true reason must not be pushed aside. We are trying to save a Planet here, because there is no viable short-term option.

What the Frack?

The Marcellus shale formation that lies beneath a large swath of Northeastern states is a source of fossil fuel that is currently a contested topic of political debate between Democrats and Republicans. Whether one is pro-fracking or anti-fracking, little time is spent actually informing the public of what the process involves. Due to misinformation, Americans can be led to believe that fracking is not in their best interest financially. During a time of hyper-inflation, consumers deserve the most economical means of relief. The only true path to self-sufficiency is energy independence.

Populous Counties In Range Of Previous Known Volcanic Eruptions

This map represents the counties in Oregon, USA, that are in different shades of blue, the darkest blue being the most populous, and the lighter blue/white, being the least populous counties. Each county has its respective name, shade, and boundary to highlight where in Oregon the counties are. Next, the Volcano's that are highlighted as red circles, are the last known eruptions, and are scattered amongst Oregon, and each eruption has a 500 mile radius, This map ties together the two features of counties and last known eruptions, to highlight which counties are historically more susceptible to volcanic eruptions.

Pacific Northwest Volcanic Hazards

This map shows the known volcanic eruptions that have happened in the states of Washington and Oregon. Along with known eruptions, capitals, major highways, rivers, and population are displayed to give an overview of how close the population tends to stay near these known eruptions. Population density is represented by a color gradient of green, the darker the shade means the denser the population.

Yellowstone National Park

This map of Yellowstone National Park allows for mountains, valleys, and other land features to be shown. I choose three datasets to represent where the trails, the lakes, and the benchmark hunting grounds are located within the national park. I decided to choose these three datasets because the information that is shown on the map can be important for a fellow hiker to follow. The trails that can be followed that are located near bodies of water is an important note to take into consideration when hiking a national park. These types of factors that I have displayed on the map helps make it easier to plan a trail route to take. The 2D version of the national park makes it also possible to see which lakes are accessible through the trails. Lastly, I included the benchmark hunting data set since it is a popular hiking activity to do while exploring the park. As well as, Yellowstone National Park is known to have many opportunities for benchmark hunting. This last data set I added was for recreational purposes which can be easily accessed through the many trails that are displayed on the map.
